Tebow plays ugly
For starters, when has Raider Nation ever cared about glamour and winning pretty? The best player in the history of the franchise, DOUBLE ZERO, epitomized UGLY, yet who better than this man to exemplify the game of football; the way it was mean to be played:
Just look at that dude!!! **** UGLY *****
Yes, there's some "ugly" in Tim Tebow's game and some times LOTS of ugly. Even during his tireless run toward the Heisman and two collegiate national titles the ugly showed its head, time and again. BUT, when the chips were down and the going got tough, Timmy stepped up and conquered.
"Oh, but he lacks technique and footwork an accuracy and this, that or the other. PRECISELY why he's Raider material. During the team's very best years their QBs weren't all that pretty or accurate. But they excelled in the TOUGHNESS department; something Tebow has in spades.
A walk through the Raiders past....
Daryle Lamonica, an NFL QB. You gotta be kidding, right?Kenny Stabler smoked......on the sidelines!!!
I purposely chose a GRAINY, NASTY picture of Plunkett playing against the Eagles in the Super Bowl. He was tough, grainy and nasty.....and he could throw the long ball....oh wait, throwing LONG!
Yes, Tebow CAN throw the long ball and very accurately, may I add. He can RUN, too. A guy that can pound the ground game and throw long. Would Al Davis want this kid on his team? I'd say YEAH!
Tebow to the Raiders!
"Tebow to the Raiders" is not such a far-fetched idea, my friends. Certainly, Carson Palmer is not lighting the world on fire. He is completely immobile, utterly inept and a turn over waiting to happen each time he takes a snap.
Oh, but you think that the Raiders can draft a better QB than Tebow, or acquire their next "franchise" QB through free agency? Oh, you must mean Michael Vick. Well, Vick is atrocious and at this point in his career, MUCH WORSE than Tebow. Who'd you rather have: Alex Smith or Tebow? C'mon Raider Nation, you don't want a lifeless stiff, you want power, passion and grit! Only ONE MAN for the job: Tim Tebow!
Tebow was set up to fail in Denver. Reports in the Denver Post last year quoted the Bronco's offensive coordinator, Mike McCoy, saying that Tebow was teaching the coaching staff the read option offense! McCoy admitted to knowing nothing about it. If McCoy knew nothing about it, what makes you think that John Fox, a neanderthal when it comes to coaching offense, would even know how to spell 'read option'. Yet, at the end of last season it was Fox who was credited for making Tebow successful and turning around the Broncos season; he even received nods for coach of the year from some pundits and ESPN talking heads.
Never once did the head coach turn to the news media and say: "Really, I haven't done much, other than give the kid the keys to the car. He's running the offense and any success we may be having is mostly of his own doing." Instead, Fox soaked it all in and went on record saying that the team would be "screwed" if Tebow were asked to run a conventional offense.
It's obvious that we've not seen what Tebow is capable of doing if backed by a real coaching staff that buys into him.
Tebow has started a total of SIXTEEN GAMES!
Folks, Tebow has started a total of 16 NFL games, compiling a 9-7 record and one playoff win. A playoff win that saw him breaking and/or setting several passing records that hadn't been touched for over forty years. "Oh, but he got lucky", you say. Who else got lucky against the Steelers that year? Let's put it another way: who else SHREDDED the Steelers that year? NO ONE! Just ONE guy, Tim Tebow.
"Oh, but he played horribly against the Patriots in the next playoff game", you will say. Yes, he played poorly. But little is said about a defense that was credited for the success that Tebow had, yet gave up FIVE FIRST HALF TOUCH DOWNS against the Pats! Don't talk to me about the Broncos defense. They stunk it up to the tune of a 1-4 record before Tebow pushed the car out the ditch and grabbed the wheel. Remember how silly the great Broncos defense looked against Green Bay and Detroit?
Tebow needs to be given a chance to start on a team that allows him to be THE GUY all the way from training camp and into and through the regular season. Tebow has not ever had that privilege at the pro level. With absolutely ZERO reps with the first team offense he was able to concoct enough wins to give his team hope; a team that had only won four games over the past two seasons.
"Oh, but his style cannot be sustained", you will predictably say. How do we know that? He's only been allowed to start less than 1/4 of one season and 2/3 of another, and he was successful in both; leading his team to the playoffs the second season. Yes, I place emphasis on "LEADING", because he was clearly the leader of the Broncos; not Champ Bailey or Von Miller, who would routinely get pulled on critical downs because the coaching staff couldn't trust him due to his poor play recognition.
Tim Tebow to the Raiders makes TOO MUCH SENSE. Raider Nation would embrace him like many of the others that have donned the 'Silver and Black'. He's clean cut, religious and proper. EXACTLY the type of character that the Oakland Raiders need and someone that Raider Nation can rally around.
